Annette Vlug

In 1990, I graduated from the School for Photography and I started working as a photojournalist. For more than 15 years I worked for a big local newspaper (Utrechts Nieuwsblad) and for the Dutch Press Association (GPD).

I stopped working as a photojournalist because I felt the need to discover more about images, photography and art. Therefor, I started my studies Interactive Design/Unstable Media at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy. This year I hope to graduate.

Photography is still my main subject. But from being a photographer I’m becoming more and more an artist. I’m fascinated by the question what photography is and also what the effect is of the fast development of photography into the last 20 years. That’s what my research is about. And that’s where most of my new works come from.
